Narasi Nasi

About the project & challenge
With a display of various rice dishes across Indonesia, these rice cuisines have not only transformed food culture, habits, and gastronomical experience but rather as a complete cycle of socioeconomic livelihoods: to those who consume it, produce it and rely on it. The artwork asks us to reconsider the influence that rice holds beyond the crops and plates: in what ways can we consume and at the same time, conserve?

Approach & outcome
Rice has a very high significance to the way we eat, especially in Southeast Asia. Many have certain ways of eating, cooking, fond memories and everything else in between with this carbohydrate. Therefore, this space is for people to reflect on how to be more mindful with our next plate of rice! Food producers, its history, expansion, effects and alternatives of the things we consume should always be our initial food for thought.
